I read some reviews on this Book and Bible study and I was honestly a little fearful. Some reviews said that this was a study built on New Age Ideas or contemplative prayer, or was unscriptural, that God spoke through His word and NOT to us directly any more. Well as a Christian for 48yrs, I knew that last statement simply was not true as God has spoken to me many times over the years, and let me just say that there is no mistaking the Voice of God! Yet because of their statements I entered into this study wary... Well, may I say that my fears were as unfounded as their accusations!!! This study has been my favorite Bible study ever. I have loved every minute of it. Over and over Priscilla states that every time you believe God has spoken to you, we have to confirm it by with the Word of God as He will never contradict His Word. She doesn't give room for interpretation of the Bible or twisting its truths. This Book and Bible Study is BIBLICAL, truthful, insightful, life changing, motivating and encouraging. I love Priscilla's real life examples that tie into her lessons. I love her energy and her passion for God and His Word. I love her gentle way of pushing us toward greater knowledge and greater commitment to our faith and her emphasis on being OBEDIENT to God's Word, Voice and Instruction. This Bible study has spurred me on to a deeper relationship with God and even though some people have said that hearing the voice of God is just a SIMPLE basic teaching of the Bible it is a GREAT one!! I have loved this Bible study so much I am going to do it again. I love Charles Stanley and I love Joyce Meyer and now I love Priscilla Shirer. Don't listen to naysayers who obviously do not have a personal relationship with God, because if they did they would hear his voice in their hearts through the Holy Spirit themselves. Don't be afraid, its not new age or hokey, it's LIFE CHANGING if you read it, do it, and obey God as He speaks to you.
A great study to help believers better understand the Holy Spirit and how He speaks to us. If you struggle to really understand how to hear the Holy Spirit I would highly recommend this book! The way she explains things makes it very easy to understand and she also has so much Scripture being focused on instead of just relying on her experiences. A great study, even without watching the videos. My pastor's wife and I meet and do studies weekly and depending on the study we may do it without the video and this one we chose to try without the videos and still gained a ton and didn't feel as though it was lacking as a stand alone book to work through.
This deserves 10 stars out of 5...I have done many bible studies but The Lord has truly blessed this message going out to people. She begins with our need to position ourselves in obedience. Whoa...some people might not exactly like to hear someone telling you to humble yourself right out the door but let’s not forget in which manner God himself left His throne and humbled Himself for us! Even if you’re not in the season of desperately needing to hear from God there is just wisdom to be gleaned, straight from His Word as she supports everything she writes about and of course I appreciate. This book has been revolutionary for me at this time, not just I’m needing to hear from Him but God has used this study to “coincidentally†reach into other parts of my life.
My women's group Bible study is doing this book along with the video series. All I can say is it's AMAZING. Priscilla has a way of using real life analogies that make so much sense so that you can apply it to your real life and truly understand how to hear God's voice in your own life. This book has been eye opening to me. It is definitely something that you have to invest time in. The daily journals take me about 30-45 minutes per day to go through, which I was unsure about when I started but so worth it because it has opened my eyes to so much more. I will be looking for more Priscilla Shirer books now that I've seen how amazing of a writer/speaker she is.
As always, Pricilla Shirer acts as the perfect vessel to teach/instruct us towards having a more intimate relationship with God. I did her Gideon Study and the Armor of God study before this one and find that the daily readings are a bit shorter in this. Still just as engaging, thought provoking, and spirit stirring as her others though! I love how she encourages the reader/student to truly look into God's word and evaluate our hearts for the answers; she doesn't spoon feed them to you. Truly a gifted teacher! LOVE it!
This book is a game changer. Writing a review really won't do it any justice. This book will affect different people in different ways depending on where they are at in life. But one thing for sure is it will "change" you, and your walk with the big man.
Love this study! Priscilla does a fantastic job interweaving personal stories, biblical knowledge, everyday struggles all wrapped around the strong word of God. It is a good study for individual or group setting and there is no high level of biblical knowledge required so good for all walks of Christian faith. The book was shipped quickly and I had it within two days. (Thanks Amazon Prime.)
